Caribbean pride! The great salsa hits written by Dominicans 🌴🇩🇴
Discover the successful international salsa tracks that were composed by talented Dominican writers. 🎶

Although many salsa fans dance and sing along to international hits thinking they belong to other countries, the reality is that behind the genre's great anthems lies an impressive Dominican touch. With a simple napkin or a piece of paper, composers from the land of merengue and bachata penned lyrics that later conquered the world in the voices of salsa legends.
Everything started gaining momentum in the 80s, when Puerto Rican artists sought out the talent of Quisqueyan creators like Mario Díaz and Palmer Hernández to bring the then-nascent erotic salsa to life. Adding to this was a historic milestone in 1975, when Johnny Ventura composed the classic "Trampolín" for El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.
The list of musical gems is huge. Palmer Hernández is the genius behind megahits like "Ven devórame otra vez" and "Aquel viejo motel". Meanwhile, Mario Díaz conquered hearts with tracks like "Comuniquémonos" for Oscar D'León and "Voy a escarbar tu cuerpo" by Lalo Rodríguez. Plus, Manuel Jiménez contributed memorable pieces like "Macho Pérez".
Quisqueyan talent also shone in the nineties with figures like Fernando Arias, who adapted songs for Marc Anthony, and Alicia Baroni, author of hits for Raulín Rosendo, proving that the Dominican pen has been fundamental in the history of salsa! ✨
