Dominican cinema to Estonia! José María Cabral's new movie shines in Tallinn 🎬🇩🇴
The Dominican film "Gut Feelings" by director José María Cabral will have its world premiere at the prestigious Tallinn Black Nights Festival.

My gossip crew, Caribbean cinema keeps making strong moves internationally. The new film by acclaimed Dominican director José María Cabral, titled "Gut Feelings" (known in Spanish as "Come M*erda") and produced by Lantica Studios, has been selected for the Official Competition of the 30th edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) in Estonia, where it will celebrate its highly anticipated world premiere.
This cinematic gem is part of an exclusive selection of 12 world premieres from 15 different countries. The plot closely follows an upper-class family obsessed with keeping Isabella, their sick daughter, alive by following a strict diet imposed by her mother Verónica, a role played by the talented Dominican actress Cindy Galán. Meanwhile, the father Raúl, a biotechnologist in the fiction, looks for scientific alternatives that bring hope back home, although the obsession unleashes intense conflicts.
Through this plot, the filmmaker offers a sharp satire on class differences, social inequalities, and power. International media outlets the size of Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have already set their eyes on it, highlighting that this production marks the director's first foray into dark comedy. Total pride for our homeland!
It's worth remembering that Cabral has already represented the Dominican Republic in the Oscar race for Best International Feature Film on three previous occasions with projects like "Checkmate" and "Woodpeckers". Now, with this step in a FIAPF-accredited category A festival, our flag is ringing loud again in Europe.
