Criollo theater in full force! Liborio and Rojo light up the stage
The theater lineup brings two unmissable picks this weekend: the historical play Liborio and the art-centered production Rojo.

My cultural bochinche people, if you were looking for plans this weekend, the local stages are packed with pure talent, featuring two options bound to turn every head.
On one hand, in the iconic Ciudad Colonial, Teatro Guloya draws the curtain on the twelfth edition of the Festival Iberoamericano Teatro de Bolsillo with the play Liborio. This one-man show, adapted, directed, and starring Dimitri Rivera — who already knows what it's like to make waves at the Premios Soberano after being nominated for Best Actor —, dives right into the complex Palma Sola Massacre of 1962.
The staging is loosely based on La hija del Mesías by acclaimed playwright César Sánchez Beras, masterfully blending historical memory with the rich popular religiosity of our land.
Meanwhile, lovers of fine art have another tremendous option with the play Rojo, an intense face-to-face showdown over ego and creation that whisks the audience straight to 1950s New York, stepping right inside the studio of famous painter Mark Rothko.
