Historic! Daddy Yankee will be the Latin Grammy Person of the Year 2026
The Latin Recording Academy will honor the legendary Puerto Rican reggaeton artist in a grand gala in Las Vegas.

My people, get ready to celebrate! The Latin Recording Academy announced that the great Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, our beloved Daddy Yankee, will receive the prestigious 2026 Person of the Year title. This recognition comes to applaud almost three decades of musical career, his key role in taking reggaeton all over the world, and also his valuable humanitarian work. The official announcement was made this past April 7th, and the Puerto Rican artist himself shared his excitement in a video broadcast by Despierta América, where he made it clear that this achievement is not only his, but also of all his people in Puerto Rico and the entire Latino community. Manuel Abud, CEO of the Academy, highlighted the singer's decisive influence on the global growth of our music. The date for this big private party will be Wednesday, November 11th in Las Vegas, just a day before the twenty-seventh Latin Grammy ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. As tradition dictates, the evening will include a huge concert with guest artists singing his greatest hits, in addition to other great honors for figures like Lila Downs, Alaska, Daniela Mercury, Chichí Peralta, Francisco Céspedes, and Omar Alfanno.
