Héctor Acosta “El Torito” meets with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican
Dominican merenguero Héctor Acosta visited Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, where he received prayers for his health after having overcome cancer.

Beloved merenguero Héctor Acosta, known to everyone as “El Torito”, experienced a very special day this Wednesday when he met Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican at 11:30 in the morning, Rome time. This meaningful encounter became a reality thanks to the support of the Dominican ambassador to the Holy See, his friend Víctor Suárez.
During the audience, the artist and current senator for the Monseñor Nouel province shook hands with the pontiff, who offered prayers for his health and celebrated the triumph of having beaten cancer. Full of devotion, Acosta asked him to pray with strength for the Dominican Republic and especially for the region he represents in Congress.
The performer presented several patriotic and devotional gifts: a Dominican flag, canvases with the image of the Virgin, and a framed picture. He also took the opportunity to extend a formal invitation for the pontiff to visit the Dominican Republic and feel the steadfastness of its faith.
